The Greatest Gift

It's Christmas Eve and our homes have the aroma's of baked goods, winter candle scents, and maybe even the sound of a fire crackling in your fireplace. There are presents under the tree, and it is a beautiful and wonderful time of the year.

As we look forward to Christmas morning and opening our gifts lets not forget the greatest gift ever given and received...Jesus Christ.

Wishing each and every one of you and your families a safe, joyous and Merry Christmas! Enjoy spending time with your loved ones and I will see you in 2019!

Mary, Did You Know?

"Mary, Did You Know?" is one of my favorite Christmas songs. The lyrics were written by Mark Lowry and music by Buddy Greene. The music and the words of this Christmas classic are beautiful and inspirational. JESUS is truly the great "I am" and the reason for the season.

Mary, did you know that your baby boy would one day walk on water?
Mary, did you know that your baby boy would save our sons and daughters?
Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?
This child that you've delivered will soon deliver you.

Mary, did you know that your baby boy will give sight to a blind man?
Mary, did you know that your baby boy will calm a storm with his hand?
Did you know that your baby boy has walked where angels trod?
When you kiss your little baby, you kiss the face of God?

Mary, did you know the blind will see, the deaf will hear, the dead will live again
The lame will leap, the dumb will speak, the praises of the lamb?

Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy is Lord of all creation?
Mary, did you know that your Baby Boy would one day rule the nations?
Did you know that your Baby Boy is heaven's perfect Lamb?
The sleeping Child you're holding is the great "I am."

God Is Sovereign

God is sovereign. He reigns over everything with His power and might.

How many of us feel we can't take anything else? We are done and tired of the trials, the pain, the stress, and the unknown. Our endurance is long gone, and we need a break.

In writing this devotion, I thought of Job, and all the trials and pain that man went through. He had the extreme and heartbreaking loss of his ten children; he lost his home, his health and his wealth. Job never really understood all of his sufferings but he never gave in, he never threw in the towel, and I'm sure he needed and wanted a break. Job loved God, was a faithful follower of God, and his trust was in God. There are two verses which were spoken by Job that to me says it all.  Job 13:15 "Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him..." And then in Job 23:10 "But He knoweth the way that I take: when He hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold."

As Christians, we need to be more like Job. No matter what is thrown at us, how severe the trials and tribulations are we put our complete trust and faith in God. God is sovereign and is in control over everything. Our God today is the same God that brought Job through each one of his trials, purified him as pure gold, and blessed him abundantly in the end.

What A Beautiful Christmas Gift!

I saw this sign on a marque as I passed a church the other day. I love the words and the question.

God gave Him
Mary wrapped Him
Will you accept Him?

What a beautiful Christmas gift! A gift from God to us and a gift that will change your life forever. Jesus came to touch lives, bring salvation to all who will believe in Him, and give abundant life. It doesn't matter what you have done in the past, Jesus doesn't care about that. He loves you, and this gift is for you to have eternal life with Him.

If you have never accepted Jesus as your Savior and committed your life to Him, now is the time. "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." John 14:6.

Only JESUS gives eternal life and a home in heaven with Him.

The Lord Thy God In The Midst Of Thee Is Mighty!

In that day it shall be said to Jerusalem, Fear thou not...The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; He will save, He will rejoice over thee with joy; He will rest in His love, He will joy over thee with singing." Zephaniah 3:16,17.

The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty!  The Lord is right in the middle of everything we have going on with His arms open wide to receive all of our problems, challenges, fears, disappointments, stress, everything, and anything...they are all quieted in His love. He will rejoice over us with gladness and singing. He will comfort us with His love. I don't know about you but knowing that God can and will handle all the stuff I have going on is not only scriptural but powerful!  It is up to me and you now to let Him take it all.  Let go. Let God.

Thank You, Lord, for all You do for each one of us. May we sing, be glad and rejoice with all of our heart for the things You are going to do and have already done.

Love in Christ,
Tera

Our Small Little Prayer

Lord, as we start this day running from place to place, doing our busy life, feeling the pressures of work, kids, home, and Christmas let us feel Your Presence, Protection, Provision, and Peace.

May we always remember that we are not the only ones that may be feeling anxiety and the pressures of life. How important it is for us to stop and pray for others that are facing hard times, sadness, loneliness, and even grief. Help us, Father, when someone's name or need is laid upon our heart that we do not dismiss it. Accept it as a nudge from You and to stop right then and pray for that person or that need no matter how busy we are.

Our small little prayer may help others more than we know.

Love in Christ,
Tera

Let Them See God In Us

How many of you have finished your Christmas shopping? How many of you are stressing because you are still working on trying to find that perfect gift and there are only 11 more days till Christmas?! That would be me!

I love Christmas it is my favorite holiday. I enjoy decorating my home, my Christmas tree, singing and listening to Christmas carols, sending and receiving Christmas cards, shopping and giving gifts to those we love and care about.

We may not be able to give our children, grandchildren, family, and friends everything we would like to give them or everything they want, but there are things we can to do to show them how much we love and care about them.

Connect with them
Listen to them
Believe in them
Pray for them
Let them see God in us

All gifts do not have to be costly material gifts. Spending quality time with those we love and letting them know we care about what is going on in their lives is a perfect gift.

Love in Christ,
Tera

What A Beautiful Name

Most of us when a family member or a friend is expecting a baby we ask the question "Have you thought of a name?" And most of the time the parents have a name chosen for a boy or a girl. There is one baby that received His name in a very different way. An angel gave His name to the parents.

Matthew 1:18-25 tells us the beautiful story of the birth of Jesus. In verses 20,21 "the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall save His people from their sins."

What a beautiful name. The name of JESUS. The name above all names — the name that has a purpose.

"Wherefore God also hath highly exalted Him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father." Philippians 2:9-11

Jesus came into the world to give salvation, and He will save you if you believe in Him.

Love in Christ,
Tera

We Make That Choice

Each one of us can choose to approach life with an attitude of being positive or an attitude of being negative. We make that choice each day.

There are so many things to be thankful for. When we look around us, we can see how God blesses us each and every day. Yes, life has it's ups and downs and can be extremely stressful at times. We have situations with our kids, and at work, we have circumstances beyond our control with family and people, all of these can change our attitude. Instead of letting our problems bring us down let them bring us to our knees. Take a few moments and remind yourself of how good God has been to you and your families. Count your blessings that the Lord has given you. Praise and give Him thanks with your whole heart. Share what God has done for you with others and you will be amazed at how blessed you are and how it changes your day. Psalm 9:1 "I will praise thee, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will shew forth all thy marvelous works."

Start today with an attitude of gratitude and make a choice to be positive. God loves us. He wants us to be happy and bring happiness to others. It's up to us to make the right choice.

Love in Christ,
Tera

The Great Commandment

What is the great commandment? Is there one that is more important or greater than the other?

Matthew 22:34-40 talks about the greatest commandment. A religious man, an expert in law, asked Jesus in verse 36 "Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus responded in verses 37-40. "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like, unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets."

Our focus should be on loving God with everything that is within us. It is so easy to stray away from serving God because we are too busy, too tired, or too involved with other things. When Jesus tells us the greatest and most important commandment is loving Him with all our heart, soul, and mind, then why are we not doing it?

There is nothing more important or significant than loving God and loving others.

Love in Christ,
Tera

It Takes Discipline

Discipline. The practice of training people to obey rules or a code of behavior.

We have all been associated with this word during our lifetime in some form or fashion. It was and still is used for training and correction.

I have found it takes discipline to stand up for what we believe and to walk daily in God's will and not the counsel of the ungodly. It takes discipline to have quiet time with God to meditate in His Word and pray fervently and earnestly. It takes discipline to journal each day about our trials and to thank God for His grace, mercy, and victories.

"Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and in his law doth he meditate day and night." Psalm 1:1,2

What joy we have when we follow the Word of God and His laws!

The Light Of The World Is Jesus

"Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life." John 8:12. As I was reading this verse this morning, it reminded me of the beautiful hymn "The Light of the World is Jesus." The lyrics and music were written in 1875 by Philip P. Bliss. Our world is lost in sin, corruption, and evilness. May God help us to see that Jesus is our only light...the light of life.

The whole world was lost in the darkness of sin; The light of the world is Jesus;
Like sunshine at noonday, His glory shone in, The light of the world is Jesus.

No darkness have we who in Jesus abide, The light of the world is Jesus;
We walk in the light when we follow our Guide, The light of the world is Jesus.

No need of the sunlight in Heaven, we're told, The light of the world is Jesus;
The Lamb is the Light in the City of Gold, The light of the world is Jesus.

Refrain:
Come to the Light, 'tis shining for thee;
Sweetly the Light has dawned upon me;
Once I was blind, but now I can see;
The Light of the world is Jesus.

Tera

Do You Believe In You?

How many remember the book "The Little Engine That Could" The book is an American fairytale published in 1930 by Platt & Munk. The story is used to teach children the value of hard work, perspective, and determination.

The story of the little engine has been told many times. The plot is always the same. A stranded train is unable to find an engine willing to take a heavy load over steep terrain to its destination. Only the little blue engine was willing to try, and while going up the hill with this heavy weight, he is repeating the words "I think I can, I think I can." The little train believed he could do it, had the determination to do it and with hard work completed the challenge.

When we are faced with a challenge or something we think is impossible for us to do instead of not even trying or giving up put your faith to work. If we believe in ourselves and have determination, we can say those same little words "I think I can, I think I can," and complete whatever challenge we are facing. "Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth." Mark 9:23.

Do you believe in you?

Tera

During Our Trials

Trials, we all have them. The thing we need to remember is God knows all about them, and they are not a challenge for Him.

When we have a situation and during our trials, we seem to take our eyes off of THE ONE that can help us the most. We start looking at the size of the trial and not the size of our God. I am guilty of this. I look at the why's, the how come's and then my focus shifts to my weakness and I become weary and discouraged. Not good.

God's love and grace are for us. His strength is made perfect in our weakness. "And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly, therefore, will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me."

Let's don't miss out on God's sovereignty and His strength during our trials. Stay strong in His Word, in our faith, and in the knowledge that He is with us. His power is our power to use!

Love in Christ,
Tera

The Expectations Of Life

Psalm 37:4 says "Delight thyself also in the Lord: and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart." Have you ever really thought about the desires of your heart? Is your life what you expected it would be? Has everything you hoped or planned happened?

I have learned that my unfulfilled desires do not have to steal my joy. When we try to go our own and do our own thing without seeking God's plan and His desire for us, we become disheartened and discontented. When we give our heart entirely over to God and let Him guide and direct our steps through life, He becomes our joy!

"A man's heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps." Proverbs 16:9

Maybe life is not what we planned, but we can start today giving the rest of our days over to God. Trust Him with His plans for us. His desires will be bigger and better than ours.

Love in Christ,
Tera

Is Our Example Powerful?

People notice what we do, what we say, how we act.

We have heard the saying, "Our actions speak louder than words." I believe this. I also think that some of the most beautiful teachings are done by example not words. How we live our lives in our homes, at work, in our car, at restaurants, what we post on Facebook, are all examples of who we are. Our children and our grandchildren are watching, our family and friends are watching, and God is watching. We are setting an example in everything we do whether we think so or not and it is up to us as to what kind of example.

"Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity." 1 Timothy 4:12

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." Matthew 5:16

Is our example powerful?  Is it shaping another person's life? Are we reflecting Christ in all we do?

There Is No Better Counsel

"I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye." Psalm 32:8

I love this promise. And what a great promise it is for us as we try to live and walk in this crazy, fast-paced, wicked world. God not only promises to instruct us and teach us but He will guide us with His protective, loving, and watchful eye. There is no better counsel than that of Jesus Christ.

"...and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6

Lord, help us to always be attentive and receptive to Your voice so that we are in Your will and being guided by You as we walk on the path You have for us.

Love in Christ,
Tera

The Lord Is The Strength Of My Life

We have assurance in scripture that when we are in the midst of anxiety, pain, fear, even circumstances beyond our control, we have strength in the Lord. He is there to provide, strengthen, and comfort us.

"The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?" Psalm 27:1.

Just as the Lord was with Moses, He is with us today. He will never fail us or forsake us.

"...as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Be strong and of a good courage..." Joshua 1:5,6a.

Whatever battle you are going through stay strong in the Lord and believe in these beautiful promises. He will give you strength and peace.

Love in Christ,
Tera

I Know That My Redeemer Liveth

This hymn has such meaning. The words were written in 1893 by Jessie B. Pounds and the music by James H. Fillmore. Our Redeemer liveth, and because He lives, we will live forever. Amen.

I know that my Redeemer liveth,
And on the earth again shall stand;
I know eternal life He giveth,
That grace and power are in His hand.

I know my mansion He prepareth,
That where He is, there I may be;
O wondrous thought for me He careth,
And He, at last, will come for me.

Refrain:
I know, I know that Jesus liveth,
And on the earth again shall stand;
I know, I know that life He giveth,
That grace and power are in His hand.

Love in Christ,
Tera

There Is No Other Book

“The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand forever.” Isaiah 40:8

Wow! What truth is in this verse! The grass does wither and die; the flowers will dry up, fade and die. You can look around you right now and see many things that will not last forever. Our vehicles, appliances, homes, iPhones, even the Energizer Bunny will not last forever!

The Word of our God does. It is eternal. It is alive and powerful. "For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." Hebrews 4:12

The Bible is there for reading, studying, memorizing, and sharing. It gives us peace, comfort, direction, wisdom, strength, and courage. It is a book filled with powerful resources and promises. The words are from God, we can rely on the words, and the words will stand forever. There is no other book except the Word of our God that can help us survive in this crazy and unjust world.

Love in Christ,
Tera

A Symbol Of Hope

Last night I saw a beautiful rainbow and every time I see one I see it as a symbol of hope. It reminds me of the promise God gave to Noah after the flood. "And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth." Genesis 9:16.

It seems lately that there are more and more people facing the storms of life. Some are big storms, some are small, and some of you are thinking you may never see a breakthrough. You need a rainbow. A symbol of hope. As hard as it is we need to remember that no matter the storm, or the darkest of clouds we feel we are under, God is there reaching out to us to give us the hope, peace, and endurance we need until the storm passes by.

I thought the chorus from the hymn 'Till the Storm Passes By' was a good ending for today's devotion. May God bless those of you who are going through a storm and may God hold you in the hollow of His Hands.

'Til the storm passes over,
'Til the thunder sounds no more;
'Til the clouds roll forever from the sky,
Hold me fast, let me stand,
In the hollow of Thy hand;
Keep me safe 'til the storm passes by.

Love in Christ,
Tera

God Is Always There

Most of us enjoy having good health. We get sick and bounce right back up most of the time.

But what happens if you get sick and it takes you a while to get well? The drive, energy, and stamina we use to have are not there anymore, and it is much harder to bounce back to being healthy again without it taking forever. The healing process has slowed down tremendously. It's called getting older. Our bodies are tired and begging for rest. For some people, this can be very frustrating and heartbreaking because you have always been active, going and doing whatever and whenever you wanted to, and now there are limitations.

All of us will age and experience it differently. The good thing is we have a God we can pray to for help, strength, and comfort. His amazing grace is sufficient for each one of us. 2 Corinthians 12:9 "And He said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness."

God is always there to help when we are weak, sick and in a time of need.

Love in Christ,
Tera

Good and Honorable

We honored and thanked our men and women in uniform yesterday as we celebrated Veterans Day. Most of us either have a family member or know someone that served our country in the past or maybe serving now. I am very grateful for every person that fought, is fighting, and that served and serves our country with pride and their lives. These people are good and honorable.

As we go through these times of uncertainty in our states and our nation may God help us to do what is honorable and good for our country and the well-being of the people of the United States. May we pray to God for peace among us, His protection over us, and that He will give us a future and a hope.

"For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart." Jeremiah 29:11-13

We are a blessed country and I am proud to be an American. May God strengthen our faith in Him and may our prayers be heard for the future of our country.

Love in Christ,
Tera

A Woman And Her Faith

I love the story in Mark 5:25-34. It is about a woman and her faith.

A woman that is never mentioned by name had been sick for twelve years and had spent all of her money going to many physicians, but no one could help her. She heard that Jesus was close by and in her desperation and faith, she knew that if she could get close enough to touch His clothes that she would be healed. "If I may touch but His clothes, I shall be whole." v28. The woman pressed through the multitude of people and got close enough to touch His garment, and she felt in her body that she was healed. She thought I will quietly slip back out of this crowd and be happy and blessed. She was surprised when Jesus turned around and asked, "Who touched my clothes?" v30. You see, Jesus realized at once that His healing power had gone out from Him. Trembling and afraid she fell before Him and told Him the truth. She explained her faith in His power. Jesus said, "Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole..."v34.

A woman and her faith and now a daughter to Jesus. Her life changed. She was well, and it was because of her faith in Jesus.

Tera

In Every Thing Give Thanks

Have you ever had one of those days where nothing goes right? The day starts with spilling the ground coffee before it ever goes in the coffeemaker, then you have a problem with your laptop, every little thing becomes a big thing, you think no one understands or cares, and the day seems like it is never going to end?!?

After realizing I couldn't change the things that were happening, I decided to work on my blog without my laptop and I came across this verse "in everything give thanks for this is the will of God." Wow! I think God was trying to tell me something. We are to acknowledge everything that happens even the trying, painful, testing of days and give thanks.

"Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18.

We have so much to be thankful for when we really think about it. The small irritating things we go through sometimes is nothing compared to what others are facing or going through that are ongoing and heartbreaking. So on those days we feel aggravated, say a prayer for God to help us and in every thing give thanks!

Tera

Love Our Enemies?!

Have you ever been hurt by someone? Rejected by someone? Ridiculed by someone?

I am sure that each one of us can say yes to at least one of these questions. And if the truth is known, there may be some bitterness toward that person, and we may even see them as an enemy. Well, there is scripture in Matthew where Jesus tells us to love our enemies. What?! Yep! It is written in red too which means Jesus said it, the words are powerful, and it is a command for us to follow.

"Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy. But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you. . . For if you love them which love you, what reward have ye...?" Matthew 5:43-46

This is a difficult command to obey but what are we gaining if we don't? A harden and unforgiving heart? It's easy to love those who love us, right? I truly believe when we ask God to help us to forgive that person He will bless us and teach us how to pray for those who have hurt us.

HE Walks Beside Us Today

God walks beside us today, ready to take care of every detail we may be facing. Whatever we have going on today we are to cast all anxiety on Him. “Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." 1 Peter 5:7

When we are confused about things in this life, God will guide us and instruct us. "I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye." Psalm 32:8

God is the source of mercy, grace, comfort, peace, and hope. He made the world and everything in it. No matter the circumstance whether it is big or small give every thought and every detail over to Him. He is the Lord over heaven and earth. Period. "God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that He is Lord of heaven and earth..." Acts 17:24

Be content knowing He walks beside us today.

Love in Christ,
Tera

The Lord Knows Our Hearts

Each one of us has made decisions thinking that the decision was right in our own eyes, and in our own thinking, but found out after the fact that we should have spent more time in prayer with the Lord before making a decision.

"Every way of a man is right in his own eyes: but the Lord pondereth the hearts." Proverbs 21:2

The Lord is always watching us. He ponders our hearts and sees our motives. He knows everything about us...inside and out. We should have the peace that comes from Him in making any and every decision. Spending time with Him is essential and what we need to do before we do something we regret or can't change.

The Lord knows our heart, and that's all we need to remember.

Leaning On The Everlasting Arms

Leaning on the Everlasting Arms is a hymn of refuge for us. It was published in 1887 by Anthony J. Showalter and lyrics by Showalter and Elisha Hoffman. What do we have to dread or fear as long as we are leaning on the everlasting arms of our eternal God? "The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms..." Deuteronomy 33:27.

What a fellowship, what a joy divine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
What a blessedness, what a peace is mine,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

What have I to dread, what have I to fear,
Leaning on the everlasting arms;
I have blessed peace with my Lord so near,
Leaning on the everlasting arms.

Refrain
Leaning, leaning, safe and secure from all alarms;
Leaning, leaning, leaning on the everlasting arms.

Love in Christ,

Surrendered To God

We know we are surrendered to God when we rely on Him to work things out instead of us trying to force, control, and manipulate a situation. Some things are way out of our control. There are so many scriptures that tell us to commit it all to God, trust Him, and He will work it all out.

"Commit thy way unto to the Lord; trust in Him, and He shall bring it to pass." Psalm 37:5

"Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for Him...Psalm 37:7

"Submit yourselves therefore to God...James 4:7

We don't have to always be in charge. Instead of trying harder to be in control (which we all know causes grief and anxiety) let's work harder to be surrendered to God and trust Him more.

Love in Christ,
Tera

That One Sheep

I love the scripture in Matthew 18 about the man having a hundred sheep and if one of those sheep became lost how he would leave the ninety-nine others on the hillside and go and find that one sheep that was lost.

"How think ye? If a man have an hundred sheep, and one of them be gone astray, doth he not leave the ninety and nine, and goeth into the mountains, and seeketh that which is gone astray? And if so be that he find it, verily I say unto you, he rejoiceth more of that sheep than of the ninety and nine which went not astray."  Matthew 18:12,13.

How beautiful and sweet. This is how our Jesus is. He loves us so much and does not want any of His children to perish. When we are lost, He will seek us and find us, forgive us and bring us back into His fold. Praise God! I am so thankful and grateful that He loved me enough and saw me as a sheep worth saving.

If you are that one sheep I want you to know today that Jesus loves and cares about you. We have all gone astray in our walk with the Lord but the heart of our Shepherd-Jesus Christ-has a heart of compassion and care. He wants to bring you home back under His care. Will you let Him be your Shepherd?

Give Me This Mountain!

Life seems to be giants and mountains that we continually have to face.

There is a lesson in Joshua 14:6-12 that talks about Caleb, his faith in God, how he followed God wholeheartedly and even in his old age he was able and willing to take on a mountain because he knew God would provide what he would need. His trust had been in the Lord when he was younger, and now that he was older he knew God would give him the strength and boldness he needed to accomplish his purpose. Caleb always had a confident attitude of trust in the Lord. It's almost like you can hear him say, Bring it on! Give me this mountain! I know the giants are there, but I also know the Lord will be with me.

"Now therefore give me this mountain, whereof the Lord spake in that day; for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims (the giants) were there, and that the cities were great and fenced: if so be the Lord will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the Lord said." Joshua 14:12

Lord God, help us to live our lives with the faith of Caleb. When we are following You wholeheartedly every step of the way, we can face any giant and the tallest mountain in front of us with confidence, boldness, courage, and strength. You are always with us and are all powerful!
Thank You, Father. In Jesus name. Amen

Cast Down, But Not Destroyed

"But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed." 2 Corinthians 4:7-9

As the scripture says, we are troubled on every side. To me, this means everything. Every situation, every problem, every pressure, every anxiety, every sickness, every fear, etc., etc., etc. Whether you are a Christian or not, the problems are there for all of us. But what else does the scripture say? We may be troubled, but we are not distressed. Perplexed, but we are not desperate. Persecuted, but God has not forsaken us. We may be cast down and even get knocked down, but we are not knocked out! We have the treasure of Christ living in us. We may be frail and broken, but we have His infinite power in us that is more significant than our own, and this strengthens us to keep on keeping on!

When life looks hopeless, God is our hope. "When all around my soul gives way, He then is all my hope and stay. On CHRIST THE SOLID ROCK I stand, all other ground is sinking sand."

Tera

Because He Lives

"Because He Lives" was written in 1971 by Gloria and William J. Gaither. This beautiful hymn was awarded the recognition of Gospel Song of the Year in 1974. I love this hymn and the words because it is a hymn of hope. No matter what we are facing, or the uncertainty of this world, we can face tomorrow because Jesus lives and we know He holds the future.

God sent His son, they called Him Jesus;
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon,
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives!

How sweet to hold a newborn baby,
And feel the pride and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance:
This child can face uncertain days because He Lives!

And then one day, I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain;
And then, as death gives way to victory,
I'll see the lights of glory, and I'll know He lives!

Chorus
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!

God's Handiwork

How many of you saw the full moon last night? It was absolutely beautiful!

Lately, I have been able to see some of God's handiwork through breathtaking sunsets, and stunning sunrises either with my own eyes are pictures that someone captured and posted on Facebook. The majestic colors and unique designs that God puts in the sky for us to see every day reminds me of just how big and amazing our God is.

"The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament sheweth His handiwork." Psalms 19:1

God's handiwork is magnificent. Each one of us is the result of the personal handiwork of God. He carefully formed and created us. He does the same for the moon, sunsets, and sunrises. Everything God creates is His wonders and is there for us to see and admire.

Today, take some time to look around you and see the beauty in all that God gives us and then give Him thanks and the glory for it.

Love in Christ,
Tera

Joy Comes In The Morning!

Are you at the end of your rope? You feel exhausted, frustrated, and overwhelmed? Your problems are overcoming you instead of you overcoming them? Well, let me tell you some good news. Joy comes in the morning! "For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning." Psalm 30:5

Most of us have had those nights of weeping. Our minds are clouded with everything that has happened that day or maybe has been happening for months. Whatever the reason it has left us discouraged, depressed and feeling alone. But we are not alone. We turn to God in our weeping and give our problems entirely over to Him. He cares and has compassion for us and is the only one that can take our struggles-each and every one of them- and turn them into joy and peace.

Today is a new day, new joy, new hope and new mercies from God. Whatever problem you are going through or dealing with do not let it consume you. Give them over to the Lord. "It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is thy faithfulness." Lamentations 3:22,23.

Conscience vs Holy Spirit

Conscience: an inner feeling or voice viewed as acting as a guide to the rightness or wrongness of one's behavior.

Each one of us has a conscience we are born with it...believers and nonbelievers. We are not born with the Holy Spirit. We receive the Holy Spirit at the point of salvation and have accepted the Lord Jesus as our Saviour.

Our conscience helps us to decern good from evil, but the Holy Spirit is our counselor and will give us the tug on our heart that warns us. Do not go there! Watch out! Be careful! It is up to us to heed that tug or ignore it. The Holy Spirit will always warn us to watch out for things that will harm us and destroy our character. It is given to us for protection. It directs our thoughts, words, actions, motives to be more like Christ.

"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." 1 Corinthians 10:13.

God is faithful. God is our strength. God is our salvation.

There Is Power In Our Words

Our words should always be uplifting an edifying. "Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the heavens." Ephesians 4:29

Before we speak, think. Will the words I am about to say help them or harm them? Our words to others are so important, it's like a vitamin or supplement to their heart and soul. "Pleasant words are as a honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones." Proverbs 16:24. Look at it this way...if they were thirsty, we would surely give them a drink, right? So why do we not want to help their soul? There is power in our words. Every word we speak impacts others so let's make it a beautiful and graceful impact.

Tera

The Same God

Have you ever thought how incredible and amazing it is that we can put our trust in God? The same God that created the heavens and the earth and who promises to hold our hand, watch over us, and help us every single day.

"For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee."
Isaiah 41:13

All of us have family and friends that we can turn to when we need a helping hand, pray with us about a situation, and that will encourage us when we need it. But knowing that we have God, the God that created everything, the God that created you and me, the God that we read about in our Bible, promises to hold our hand and help us. What a beautiful promise!

Father, help us to always be thankful for WHO You are in our lives. WHAT You can do in our lives. And HOW big You are in our lives. All that we are and have comes from You. Your power and promises are incredible! Thank You for loving us and caring about us this much. In Jesus name. Amen

Tera

We Are Never Alone

In this life, we are not promised rose gardens, a bowl of cherries, or a life of easiness. Most of the time it is more like struggles, pits, and thorns.

What we are promised is that we have a God that cares about us and we can cast every burden over to Him, and He will help us and give us rest. "Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28. God also promises us that we do not have to fight our battles alone, afraid, and troubled. "...Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's." 2 Chronicles 20:15b

None of us can understand why we have to go through so many trials and tribulations. Some say it makes us stronger and in some ways, I believe it does. It increases our faith and our trust in God. The one promise that I can claim and know I can depend on is that God is with me. He is also there for you to help and give you rest. It is God and I. It is God and you. We are never alone.

Love in Christ,
Tera

Be You!

Do you compare yourself to others? Do you wish that you were as smart, as talented, as rich, as attractive as someone else? We have all at one time or another either compared ourselves or wished we could be more like someone else. Right?

Comparing ourselves to others can affect our own self-esteem. When we begin to focus on and continue to focus on what we wish we looked like, or how smart we want to be then the strengths we do have, and the good and positive things about us become smaller and smaller. Our self-esteem grows negative, and we begin to feel depressed, suppressed and unworthy. God made us the way we are. He wonderfully designed each one of us."I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well." Psalm 139:14.

Be proud of who you are! Believe in yourself and live your life the way God designed you. Stop comparing yourself to others. Be You! Life is worth living so go and enjoy each day.

Love in Christ,
Tera

Life Is Too Short To Be Broken

There are so many around us today that are broken. We may not see it on the outside of them, but inside they are bruised, battered, and broken. Life has not been easy for some. I have been there, and some of you may be going through brokenness right now.

Our brokenness can come from just about anything. Health. Financial. Spouse or a relationship. Family. Children. Job. Whatever it may be, it leaves us weak and crying out to God for help. I am here to tell you that our God does hear our cry, He sees our tears and He can and will put a new song in our heart and soul if you let Him.

"I waited patiently for the Lord, and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord." Psalms 40:1-3

If you are broken today, please don't turn to the world for peace and repair. Turn to God. Let Him carry your burden and your brokenness. Let Him set your feet upon a rock, put a new and everlasting song in your heart, and then be blessed! Life is too short to be broken.

If Any Of You Lack Wisdom

Each one of us has had to make choices. Some are life-changing, some are difficult, some are minor but important, some are work related, and some are made daily concerning our family.

God wants us to learn how to choose well. When we face a difficult decision instead of asking God what His will is we pray for God to give us wisdom, knowledge, and judgment.

"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given to him." James 1:5

"And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;" Philippians 1:9

We can't live in fear of making a wrong decision. When and If we pray about it, and we have asked God to give us wisdom and good judgment then we wait on Him. Do not rush making a decision. We keep our heart, mind, and soul following God, and being still and He will answer and bless us with the right choice and His will.

How Great Thou Art!

I love this beautiful hymn. It was written by Carl Boberg in 1885 and has been sung by many artists. It is a hymn of thankfulness, praise, and adoration. May we see daily how great our God is.

O Lord my God! When I in awesome wonder
Consider all the works Thy Hand hath made.
I see the stars, I hear the rolling thunder,
Thy power throughout the universe displayed.

When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation
And take me home, what joy shall fill my heart!
Then I shall bow in humble adoration,
And there proclaim, My God, How Great Thou Art!

Refrain:

Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee:
How great thou art, How great thou art!
Then sings my soul, my Saviour God, to Thee:
How Great Thou Art, How Great Thou Art!

Love in Christ,
Tera

The Best Is Yet To Come

We may think this life is good, but I believe the best is yet to come.

"But as it essential, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him." 1 Corinthians 2:9

God's purpose for the life of His people is to see and remember that there is something much better for us. Everything we do in obedience to God and His Word is essential. How we live. How we act. How we treat others. We all have problems, pain, anxieties, and even the things of this world cause us concern. The key is how we deal and react to these things.

The Bible tells us that Jesus is preparing a place for us. We can only imagine what He has in store for us. So live each day for Him. Let us run with patience the race that is before us. Be active in our faith and our walk with the Lord and be ready to join Him when He returns. Will you be ready?

Love in Christ,
Tera

Go Ye Therefore

Our purpose is to reach others for Christ and to change lives.

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world." Matthew 28:19,20

Jesus told his disciples to go and teach all nations and share the good news to others about His love for everyone. The disciples had been with Jesus, and they saw firsthand how He loved and cared for people. They saw Jesus perform miracle after miracle and give healing to the sick and show compassion to the hurting.

Today, we still see God's greatness and His love for us. We have either seen or heard of His miracles. As a Christian, we are His disciples, we are to "go ye therefore" and share the good news. The awesome thing is that Jesus has given us a promise in this scripture that He will be with us and give us the strength to accomplish what He is asking us to do. Will you tell someone about Jesus today and change their life?

Love in Christ,
Tera

The Lord Is Good

"O taste and see that the Lord is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him."
Psalm 34:8

I have seen the Lord's goodness. I have felt His presence, healing, and provision over and over. He provided for me before I even asked. He has given me strength in times of weakness. He blessed me with encouragement from family and friends when I was weary. I will praise Him forever. "I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: and I will glorify thy name forever." Psalm 86:12

We are all blessed to be able to put our trust in the Lord, to look around and see His goodness, and to be able to put our future in His Hands. What a beautiful promise is Psalm 34:8. God and only God can bring good out of evil, peace out of fear, and order out of chaos.

How do we repay the Lord for all His goodness and blessings? We share them with others.

Lead Me In The Way Everlasting

I want my whole heart, soul, and life dedicated and living for God. I want Him to search my heart daily and to test my thoughts, words, actions, and motives and make sure they are pure and pleasing to Him.

"Search me, O God, and know my heart; try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting." Psalm 139:23,24

We all have things that test us and/or challenge us.  My most difficult and the hardest thing I have had to give over to God is relinquishing control. Whew! (I know my children can and will attest this) Listen, I am a work in progress! It is hard, it is painful and even heartbreaking at times. God is working on me and helping me daily to walk by faith.

Whatever your test or challenge is trust God with it and give it over to Him. He knows all. He holds the future. He has the plan to lead each one of us in the way everlasting.

Love in Christ,
Tera

Hello, This Is God

Hello, this is God. I will be handling ALL of your problems and concerns today. That's my job. Your job is to give them to me, and then to trust me. Have a great day!

I have this saying in my devotional blog book that I see every day as I am working on my blog. It reminds me that GOD is in charge and He can handle anything I have going on today. All of my anxieties, concerns, health issues, whatever it is, God can deal with it.

"Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God." Philippians 4:6

I know it is easier to read and say than to do but we need to remember our God is much bigger than any problem we have. Try it today. Give it all over to Him, thank Him for handling it, and trust Him.

Have a blessed and great day!

How Beautiful Upon The Mountains

I have had the blessing of being in the mountains these last few days, and I can tell you they are beautiful and very refreshing! They are majestic in every way, calming and peaceful.

Isaiah 52:7 "How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace: that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!"

Most of the news today is saddening. It is about bitterness, crime, hate, killings, accusations, destruction and fear. Wouldn't it be nice to hear the good news of peace, joy, and comfort? No one speaking about hostility or conflict.

This verse in Isaiah is speaking of sharing tidings of good. As a Christian, we have the good news to share and should be sharing it. There are still so many people that need to know about Jesus Christ and that He loves and cares about them. Will you be one of those that will start sharing the good news about Jesus and speak of the peace that He can give to those who desperately need it?

Love in Christ,
Tera

Stepped Out In Faith

When we look back in the scriptures, there are so many examples of those who stepped out in faith despite their fears, and one that speaks to me is Genesis 22:1-18. Abraham was the best example of stepping out in faith, and God tested his faith beyond belief.

God asked Abraham to take his son, Isaac, his only son, that he loved, and to give him up as a sacrifice. Abraham trusted and feared God and stepped out in faith and obedience. He left that morning taking Isaac to the place God had told him to go. Abraham took his son and bound him to the altar. He stretched out his hand to slay him "and the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. And he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me." Abraham looked up and saw a ram which was caught in a thicket, and he took the ram that God provided and offered it as a sacrifice instead of his son.

What faith! Do we trust God to step out in faith and know without a doubt that He will provide?

Prayer Warriors

Each one of us has people or a family member we can call when we are in need of prayer. They are our prayer warriors. When I feel my life, my children's or grandchildren's life is in turmoil or just needing prayer they are there and armored to do battle in prayer for me. More than once they have dropped what they were doing so we could talk, share, cry and pray together.

How precious are our prayer warriors! Their encouragement and love brings us back to a peaceful state of mind and reminds us to keep our faith in God and to stay strong in Him. To me, they are priceless, and I am blessed to have them in my life!

Father, help us to be a worthy prayer warrior. Give us the wisdom to say the words you would want us to say that will lift and encourage their spirit and heart. In Jesus name. Amen

Tera

I'm Doing Better Than I Deserve!

We have a gentleman at our church, and every time you ask him how are you doing today, he always responds, "I'm doing better than I deserve." He may not feel his best and probably has a few things going on but what you hear from him is that he is grateful and blessed!

You know, his response should be how we all should look at our life. We should always be grateful. We are a child of God. A God that loves us provides for us and blesses us with His mercies every morning. His gift of grace is given to us over and over and sometimes in the same day. And, what a blessing it is that God does not deal with us according to our sins. "He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities." Psalm 103:10

Our God is an awesome God and so very good to us. Every breath we take is from God. Every blessing we have had and still receive comes from God. Every sin we have done and have confessed has been forgiven by God. Don't you think it's time we start responding when asked how are we doing today with "I'm doing better than I deserve!"

I Go To Prepare A Place For You

"In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also." John 14:1-3

Jesus Christ did not go away and forsake us, He is preparing a place for us in Heaven and will come again and receive the child of God and take us up to heaven so we can dwell with Him and God forever. "Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words." 1 Thessalonians 4:17,18

To all of us who believe this scripture is comforting and reminds us that when this life is over we have the promise of eternal life with Jesus.

Tera

The Pattern Of Our Lives

My momma was a seamstress and could sew anything beautifully. Many times when I was younger, she would lay out a pattern over the material and cut out a new dress for me. The pattern was a guide to show her where to cut and also what was the front, the back, the sleeves, etc. I remember one time she cut where she was not supposed to, and my dress became a sleeveless dress instead of one with sleeves. It was fine with me, but it really upset her that she had made a mistake.

I started thinking about the pattern of our lives and how we make mistakes all the time. Even though we have been taught right from wrong, the good and the bad, and we have the Bible as our guide, we still make mistakes. Life is all about our actions and reactions, our choices and good works.

"In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works..." Titus 2:7.

Being an example of Jesus, doing good deeds, encouraging, and sharing God's goodness everywhere we go, and in all we do, should be the pattern of our lives.

Love in Christ,
Tera

The Fields Are White And Ready To Harvest

While traveling this past weekend, I looked over and saw these beautiful fields of white cotton, and I was reminded of this verse. "...Lift up your eyes, and look on the field; for they are white already to harvest." John 4:35. Those white, beautiful fields did not get that way by themselves. A farmer had to plant, labor and care for those fields. He cultivated the land, planted, irrigated, and watched over them for months. When the crops are ready, he along with many other people will work and harvest the fields. The farmer does not want any part of the crop to be lost.

Jesus had one purpose on this earth, and that was to teach and save the lost. When Jesus spoke those words in John 4:35 to His disciples in Samaria he had just had the conversation with the woman at the well and had seen and heard how receptive she was to what He had to say. Jesus had taken the time to share the gospel, to plant a seed, with one woman and now so many more were coming to hear what He had to say and be saved. The fields were white and ready for harvest (people were prepared to listen to the gospel) they just needed someone to tell them.

As a Christian, we need to share the gospel wherever we go. The fields all around us are white and ready to harvest. Will you plant a seed today?

Tera

Jesus Does Not Cast Stones

There is a story in John 8:1-11 where the Pharisees brought a woman that was caught in adultery into the temple to condemn her. They wanted to expose her sin before Jesus and everyone and because the law of Moses commanded stoning for such an act that is what they wanted to do to this woman.

The men brought her to Jesus. And Jesus said unto them, " He that is without sin among you, let him cast a stone at her." You probably could have heard a pin drop at this point. If one of those men picked up a stone claiming they were innocent of sin, the other men (accusers) would probably speak up and say something. I think Jesus was saying, Stop judging! None of you are perfect or without sin. So, being convicted themselves, they left one by one, beginning with the oldest, until there were only Jesus and the woman left in the middle of this crowd. Jesus turned to the woman and said, "Woman, where are those thine accusers? Hath no man condemned thee? She said, No man, Lord. And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and sin no more."

What a beautiful scripture. Jesus was the only person that could have condemned the woman, but He didn't. He showed compassion, forgiveness, and grace to her even though she had sinned. He does the same for us. Jesus does not cast stones. He comes to save us not condemn us.

DO NOT DISTURB!

We have all seen a Do Not Disturb sign. You can find this sign hanging on a door in hotels, work cubicles, kids rooms, bathrooms, and you can even enable one for your iPhone. There are cute ones, funny ones, serious ones, but they all mean the same. DO NOT DISTURB!

I don't know about you, but I would love to have one for satan. He is always interrupting and disturbing me and my thoughts and doesn't care what time it is, where I am, or what I am doing he still interrupts. To be able to turn him off, and silence him would be awesome!

Unfortunately we cannot hang a Do Not Disturb sign around our neck, but we can "put on the whole armor of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil." which includes one vital and offensive weapon "the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God."

Being strong in the Lord and reciting the Word of God will enable us to fight off any attacks from satan and come out of it with a victory!

(The Whole Armour of God- Ephesians 6:10-18).

Tera

When You Feel A Little Prayer Wheel Turning

This old hymn speaks to me. Have you talked to Jesus today?

I once was lost in sin, but Jesus took me in
And then a little light from heaven filled my soul
It bathed my heart in love and wrote my name above
And just a little talk with Jesus made me whole

Sometimes my path seems dreary without a ray of cheer
And then the cloud about me hides the light of day
The mists in me rise and hide the stormy skies
But just a little talk with Jesus clears the way

Refrain:
Now let us have a little talk with Jesus
Let us tell Him all about our troubles
He will hear our faintest cry
He will answer by and by
Now when you feel a little prayer wheel turning
And you know a little fire is burning
You will find a little talk with Jesus makes it right

You will find a little talk with Jesus makes it right
Makes everything right

Love in Christ,
Tera

Silence And Solitude

How many of us would love to have a few hours of silence and solitude? I am talking about complete, uninterrupted silence? What if we had 24 hours of silence? Where would our thoughts go? Would we or could we rest? Would it calm us or make us agitative? Would we love it or hate it?

Because of this crazy world we live in today, we all need a little silence and solitude in our lives. It is important. A time to clear our thoughts and be still and quiet so we can hear God's voice and only  His voice speaking. We have so many things going on in our heads that distracts us and brings discouragement and weariness. Rest can help get us back in tune with God. "Be still, and know that I am God." Psalms 46:10

The Bible tells us that Jesus loved times of silence and solitude. "And He (Jesus) withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed." Luke 5:16
Jesus often wanted His disciples to spend time in silence. "And He said unto them (disciples), come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while..." Mark 6:31

Ask God today to help you find time for a little silence and solitude in your life. A time to rest and refresh our minds, hearts, and souls.

God Is For Us!

"What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? Romans 8:31
What a comforting verse to claim every day! If this doesn't encourage you, I don't know what will.

If and since we are in Christ and He is our Savior then we have God on our side. He is for us. He will protect us. He will fight for us. Is anyone bigger or more powerful than our God? No! There will always be those that think they are and will be against us no matter what. Who cares? God is for us!

"The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? Psalms 27:1
"Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?"Romans 8:35

We all have problems, trials, and tribulations. We just need to remember God IS for us. We are His people. He loves us and will take care of us.

Tera

I Don't Know How Much More I Can Take!

Most of us have said today's title and probably more than once! The word 'more'  could be described as work, kids, aging parents, spouses, home life, relationships, our health, anything that becomes a trial.

Trials come in all shapes and sizes and at any given time. They don't call us up and ask if we are ready for one. Some surprise us and usually come when our plate is already full from other trials. Some are not as bad as we think and then some are devastating. We have all heard the saying and have said it to others going through trials "God will not give us more than we can handle." This statement is not biblically correct. The truth is God never promised that He would not give us more than we can handle but He did promise that He would be with us through the trial providing help and strength.

Psalm 121:2 "My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth."

Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me."

The next time our thoughts lead us to "I don't know how much more I can take." Remember this.
We are not alone, and we can do all things through Christ who helps us and gives us strength.

 Love in Christ,
Tera

Memories

Our lives are made up of all kind of events, things, family, friends, and vacations which turn into memories, right? If you are a golden-ager, we can pretty much say we have seen a lot and done a
lot and (speaking only of myself) can't remember most of it.

There have been things that have happened that is beautiful and heartwarming then there are some things that are ugly and heartwrenching, and we just want to forget. Life is always going to be full of blessings and blunders, the good, the bad, and the ugly. When we begin thinking of those rough days, and stuff that we would like to delete from our memory bank we need to remember how faithful our God is and all of His blessings that He has given us.

Proverbs 10:7a "The memory of the just is blessed..."

Overall our memories are precious and will be remembered when we talk about them and share them with others. Reminisce about your memories and make more every day!

Lingering Anger

Anger or wrath is an intense negative emotion and can occur when a person feels their boundaries are being violated.

A life that is trying to live righteously and abide by God's Word cannot have lingering anger and be happy. It hardens our hearts and opens the door for satan. We cannot hold bitterness in our minds, souls, and hearts. It is a dangerous emotion that will continue to cause hurt and pain to ourselves and to the other person if we do not identify it, forgive and let go of it.

"Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you." Ephesians 4:31, 32.

Ask yourself WHY am I angry? At WHOM am I angry? WHAT caused me to become angry?

If you can identify the source, please take the time today to forgive. Ask God to remove the bitterness and start living a life of grace, kindness, and peace.

Tera

Our Prayer Of Faith

Faith is the victory! Faith is the victory! O glorious victory that overcomes the world!

There are many times we feel our faith is being tested. It is. Our prayer of faith requires discipline and sometimes lots of it! We believe in His Word, we believe in God, we believe that He is sufficient. We know God is working, we see His Hand in our situation so why do we doubt?

When we start thinking and doubting that God is not working we need to look back on all the times He has worked in our lives and all the victories He has done for us in the past. We put our faith into action and completely give it over to Him. He is much bigger than us and our problem!

Our prayer of faith will become our praise of faith when we put our trust in the One that loves us and wants to give us that victory.

Tera

Speak With Grace

There are so many times we speak before thinking. We all know that words can build us up or break us down. Each person we come in contact with every day is important, and we should speak and respond to them with kindness and with grace.

"Let your speech be alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man." Colossians 4:6
"Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers." Ephesians 4:29

We need to remember that our tongue is powerful. I have always said, "we speak what we think."  Each one of us knows that can be good and bad. A person with a kind heart will speak words of kindness and goodness. A person with an unforgiving, bitter heart, may speak words of meanness.

Our words should be an encouragement and we should speak with grace. Ask God to help us control what we say and to guard our lips. I love this verse. "Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips." Psalm 141:3

Rest and Restoration

Stress. Fatigue. Weariness. Overworked. All of these are reasons for Rest and Restoration. We need to be refreshed and energized from time to time even if it is just for a few hours or minutes.

Each of us has breaking points. If you don't, you are one blessed individual! God knew we would need encouragement and we can find it in His Word. If you are exhausted and maxed to the limit, there are scriptures we can go to for restoration. Here are just a few.

"Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28

"These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world." John 16:33

"Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls." Matthew 11:29

"And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not." Galatians 6:9

Father, help us to take the time today to bask in Your love and scriptures. Calm us. Help us, O God, to bring into captivity every thought that is robbing our time and our joy. Let Your peace and Your Words refresh our bodies, minds, and souls. In Jesus name. Amen

Love in Christ,
Tera

Are Our Priorities Out Of Order?

There is a story in Luke 10:38-42, where Jesus had stopped by to visit His closest friends. The place was home to sisters Mary and Martha. I think Jesus found peace and rest in their home.

At this setting, Mary was sitting at Jesus' feet, relaxed and listening to all He was saying. She was enjoying being near Jesus and was taking it all in. Martha, on the other hand, was busy, and very focused. She was worrying over many things. Her priorities were in the kitchen working on dinner and had probably worked all morning cleaning and preparing for Jesus' visit. She was more concerned about the details and priorities that she missed something a lot more important which was enjoying the time with Jesus.

Sometimes we are like Martha. We become so wrapped up in our busyness, worries, and thoughts that we miss time with Jesus. We lose our joy and peace. Our priorities are out of order. There is one thing Jesus seeks from us, and it is spending time with Him and listening to His voice.

Are your priorities out of order?

Always Count Your Blessings

God blesses us daily with blessings. When we are discouraged, burdened, broken, or feeling alone, we need to take the time to count our blessings. It will surprise you and brighten your day with what all the Lord has done! I love this sweet old hymn it is full of truth.

When upon life’s billows you are tempest tossed,
When you are discouraged, thinking all is lost,
Count your many blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Are you ever burdened with a load of care?
Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?
Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,
And you will keep singing as the days go by.

Refrain
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
Count your blessings, see what God hath done!
Count your blessings, name them one by one,
And it will surprise you what the Lord hath done.

Have you counted your blessings?

Tera

When We Finally Let It Go

All of us remember the song "Let It Go" from Disney's 2013 movie Frozen. The song talks about being weary and restless with yourself and your problems and blocking out the people who want to help you by turning away from them.

How many of us are weary and restless with ourself and our problems? Is our problem keeping us from living a victorious life? Are we blocking out God who is our Helper? Are we living in a fairy tale thinking everything will be ok...one day? Are we happy and content? Is our problem even about us or have we involved ourselves with someone else's problem?

It takes strength and courage to step away from situations that we have become a part of but if it is causing hurt and weariness to us, then its time to step aside. When we finally let it go, God shows us how we can care, but not be in control, how we can be an encourager but not an enabler, and how we can love with even greater love.

Love in Christ,
Tera

Who is Your Counselor?

We go to all these different counselors and sources for just about everything. We talk to those that can help us financially, those that can help us with diet and nutrition, we go to those that can help us get into shape physically, and those that can help us deal with life without having a nervous breakdown. If it's not a person we go to for help, then we go to the internet. Right?

What if we went to God each day as our Counselor? He knows all we are going through and can give us the peace, wisdom, and clarity we need to face anything we have to face. His Word is full of scriptures that can direct us and shed light on our path each day. Let God be our source. He can and will help us make the right decisions and the right choices in all areas of life.

"...And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6
"I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go: I will guide thee with mine eye." Psalm 32:8

God's counsel and wisdom are always right. He can put our life back into perspective. Isn't that what life is all about?

Tera

Forgiveness is Refreshing

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost, but now am found; was blind, but now I see. I praise You, Lord, over and over for saving my soul. Thank You for forgiving me and taking me back.

Do you feel like your life has no direction? There's no joy and peace in your life? Maybe you feel like the prodigal son that left his family and wanted to live a life of sin but then realized and recognized that living a wild and sinful life was not at all what he thought it would be. He became humbled and wanted to go home and ask for forgiveness. His father did receive him back with open arms.
(Full Prodigal Son Story-Luke 15:11-32)

God sent His only Son to save us, not to condemn us, but to save us. He gave us the beautiful gift of eternal life with Him. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16

No matter what we have done, how distant we have become from God, He still loves us and will receive us back with His loving, open arms. We have all sinned. We ask for forgiveness, and He forgives us. He loves when His people return to Him. Heaven rejoices also!

Love in Christ,
Tera

Even If

'Even If ' is a song written by MercyMe and was released on February 17, 2017. It is a beautiful song and a reminder that God is worthy even when we are broken. I was unable to post the entire song because of space, I encourage you to listen to this song in its entirety. It will move you.

They say it only takes a little faith
To move a mountain
Good thing
A little faith is all I have right now
But God when You choose
To leave mountains unmovable
Give me the strength
To be able to sing
It is well with my soul

Chorus:
I know You're able
And I know You can
Save through the fire
With Your mighty hand
But even if You don't

My hope is You alone
I know the sorrow
I know the hurt
Would all go away
If You'd just say the word
But even if You don't
My hope is You alone

Refrain:
It is well with my soul
It is well
It is well with my soul
